As we approach the end of 2021 and weddings begin to emerge from their two-year hibernation, we wanted to take this opportunity to share our bridal fashion predictions for 2022. This year we saw couples downsizing their weddings, but they made up for it with dramatic, bold, fun gowns and accessories – and we don’t see these trends slowing down.

In 2022, anything goes. Colour. Pantsuits. Sequins. Pearls. On your special day, it’s all about wearing something that’s a reflection of your personal style.
Shorter hemlines
This year micro weddings brought mini wedding dresses back into the spotlight. Whether you’re planning a casual ceremony, elopement, or want to show off a killer pair of heels, shorter wedding dresses could be for you. Or maybe you have your heart set on a long gown for your ceremony and a shorter dress is your preferred option when it’s time to hit the dance floor?
Frills and ruffles
As larger weddings return, so do large, frilly details! Ruffled skirts are perfect for those brides wanting to make a major fashion statement as you float down the aisle while keeping a beautifully streamlined silhouette. If you’d prefer to keep your dress on the minimal volume side, you can always embrace ruffles on your bodice or sleeves. The options are endless.
Pops of colour
Blush and champagne gowns have certainly had their moment, but shades of lavender, blue, pistachio, and colourful florals are have come to the party! These soft, elegant tones are predicted to stay for a while, with brides taking this opportunity to really have some fun and show their personality. Another similar trend is multicoloured bridesmaid and groomsmen outfits that compliment the colour palette of the wedding. Fun! It’s important to let your gown do the talking if you’re opting for a colourful dress, so keep your accessories and your bouquet sweet and simple.
Party-ready pantsuits
This sleek, stylish dress alternative is back with a bang. Perfectly tailored trousers, ultra-clean lines and a great way to show off your shoes! For 2022, it’s predicted that crop tops, corsets and shorts are going to give the classic wedding pantsuit a fun “I’m here to party” vibe.
Show some leg
If you’re a fan of the traditional full-length gown but are looking for something a little saucier, flash a little leg with a full hip split. Think Angelina Jolie’s red carpet moment at the 2012 Oscars. This style of gown throws major “Bond Girl” vibes and is a great option if you’re wanting to show a curve-skimming silhouette.
Bold accessories
Turn up the volume with statement earrings – 2022 is all about being bold. Long pearl drops, gold hoops, or twinkling jewels. Earrings are a great way to bring attention to your face, elongate the neck, and add some sparkle beneath your veil. Speaking of veils, pearl detailing will continue to reign supreme (don’t be afraid to make a statement with your veil!) and crystals are predicted to have a comeback in 2022 – particularly with embellished shoes.

Vintage fashion
You may have noticed that 90s and early 2000s fashion is creeping back into our wardrobes. This also applies to wedding fashion trends. Chokers are coming back in full swing, with pearl chokers poised to set the trend. Vintage dressing is also on the rise with more brides choosing to be sustainable and looking for vintage dresses that can be tailored and given a second life (and moment in the spotlight).

Hopefully, this blog has inspired you to embrace your unique style and have fun with your outfit and accessories on your special day!
