Real Wedding Feature: Edwina & Matt’s flurry to beat lockdown

While enjoying a fun-filled morning, on their wedding day, local Tamborine Mountain sweethearts Edwina and Matt were beyond excited to finally be getting married, after already postponing their wedding once.

The Bridesmaid heard it first…in 6 hours we were going into lockdown (again). Naturally, there was panic, tears, and “Oh god what are we going to do?!”. It was all hands on deck.

The phone calls started between Edwina, Donna from Cedar Creek Estate Winery, Kim Burgess Marriage Celebrant, Matt, and his Mum, and Tania from Stonehaven Manor Guesthouse.

Decision made – move the ceremony forward and celebrate afterward with a mini reception.

The hair and make-up team went into overdrive to have the Bridal party ready early.  Tic Tac Tours arrived early to transport the girls. Texts and Facebook messages were being sent left right and centre to ensure the guest knew to arrive earlier…The only person unable to make contact with was the Bagpiper – a surprise wedding day gift from Matt’s beautiful Mum.

Finally, contact was made! He’d just finished another wedding and was on his way.

By this point, the Bridal party had arrived and the Piper was still en route. With minutes until his arrival, the party waited in the car… with the excuse that a few guests were running late.

It was finally showtime!

On cue, Kim the Celebrant whisked everyone into the chapel and held Matt and his Groomsmen outside. As the Piper started, tears welled in most eyes.

Once Matt and the Groomsmen had found their places in the chapel, the Piper was promptly whisked back up the driveway as he waited for the girls. The Skye Boat song played as he escorted the Bridal car to the chapel.

All moments were captured by the amazing team from Wattleseed Collective who rolled with every change, every emotion and captured it all perfectly.

A micro reception was held after the heartfelt ceremony to celebrate the love and marriage of Matt and Edwina.

It was a fairy tale ending to a whirlwind of emotions.

HUGE thank you to all the incredible wedding vendors who worked their magic and made Matt and Edwina’s dreams come true, despite the devastating lockdown announcement. Love truly does bring everyone together.
