While many of our couples have postponed their wedding celebrations, so that they can celebrate in full style at a later date with all their family & friends, many people have opted to stick to their original plan, opting to marry now regardless and utilise the new #weddingforfive scenario. They are then planning big celebrations for a later date when they will renew their vows perhaps on their first wedding anniversary, in front of their nearest & dearest. We LOVE this and are fully supporting our couples through this process, no matter which way they are choosing to navigate it. It’s a lot to deal with and we are here for you – our Tamborine Mountain Weddings Group community of seasoned wedding professionals are right behind you every step of the way!

Rewinding a little, Tegan + Isaac (below) made the tough decision to bring their wedding forward a day before the new five person restrictions came into effect. Our suppliers who were already involved in their big day worked with them and supported their wishes to marry sooner in order to still have the day they had dreamed of. They were one of our couples who had a rather busy day making lots of last minute phone calls to try and make it happen.

We know that Cedar Creek Lodges, Bec Pattinson Photography, Di’s Hair Design & Florabunda Flowers all worked quickly to move other bookings they already had on the Wednesday in order to be able to help Tegan & Isaac marry in time. It’s no simple feat moving a wedding by a whole day, but they pulled it off. It’s almost a modern day fairytale because marrying before the strike of midnight is rather Cinderella like really, isn’t it!?!

When it came to lovely young couple Rumi + Patrick (below), they had been planning their wedding day for the 26th March 2020 for more than a year, so they wanted to go ahead with their nuptials because this date also held a special meaning for them. So, adhering to the new 5 person regulation, they went ahead at the beautiful Albert River Wines where they were married by our wonderful celebrant Kim Burgess with one of the venue’s dedicated wedding coordinators, Kylie, stepping in as a last minute witness.

Kim recalls that day fondly and said “The love they felt for each other was pouring out of their eyes, as they gazed at each other. It may have been a small gathering but there were loud shouts of congratulations as I presented the newlyweds to their two witnesses.” Rumi who loves Disney + Patrick who’s a Pilot had built a timber box as a memorable piece to bring on the day. It held love letters they’d written to each other and during the ceremony they added a very nice bottle of Albert River Wine before padlocking the box. The plan is for it to be opened on their first wedding anniversary, which will be their wedding celebration (without the legal part a vow renewal), with all their family and friends in attendance back at Albert River Wines where their special ceremony will once again be officiated by Kim Burgess.

Kim also said “A lovely ritual to have in a wedding ceremony is the wine box ceremony, as paper is traditionally the first-anniversary gift. What could be a better gift of paper, than a love letter from your lover? It’s not about size, it’s about two people in love who want to be married! We couldn’t agree more! What a beautiful story.

Two more stories that have warmed our hearts during this time have been the weddings of Tamara + Tom (below) and Alexis + Lucas (further below). Tamara and Tom were married by our fantastic celebrant Robert Simmons at Cedar Creek Lodges with two friends as witnesses – these two cannot wait to re-unite in this same beautiful location in a year’s time with all their family & friends in attendance for a vow renewal with Robert and the celebration they’ve always dreamed of…. but for now they are just delighted to be married. Robert summed it up best on the day when he said “Okay, so it’s not the wedding day that Tom + Tamara hoped it might be…but still, today is their wedding day.”

Alexis + Lucas had our amazing Di’s Hair Design and Flower Patch on Main by their side to assist them with their elopement… and they too are very much looking foward to celebrating in full style at a later date with those closest to them. Alexis had these lovely words to say about her experience with Di, “We are so grateful for Di and could never thank her enough for not only making us feel and look absolutely amazing on our wedding day, but the pressure she took onto her own shoulders to ensure that we were able to enjoy ourselves and have the day we had imagined is beyond what we ever could have expected.”
