For slightly more adventurous couples, a destination wedding provides the opportunity to celebrate their marriage at a gorgeous destination far away from their home. In most instances this relates to couples who are based overseas who dream of marrying in Australia, but it can also apply to Australian couples who long to marry somewhere that offers something completely different to what they are used to in their hometown or state.

So when it comes to destination weddings, Tamborine Mountain really couldn’t be any more perfect and we’re here to tell you why in this blog post!

Firstly, let’s start with LOCATION – Tamborine Mountain is situated a short 1 hour’s drive from Brisbane and just 45 mins from the Gold Coast, two of Queensland’s largest and most cosmopolitan cities. Return flights are easy via both airports and the Gold Coast now offers major international connection routes too. Brisbane and the Gold Coast both offer unique city experiences; Brisbane is famous for it’s beautiful river which weaves its way through the city, gorgeous old buildings showcasing distinct Queensland architecture, a strong music/performing arts culture and a sub-tropical climate with easy access to some of Australia’s best beaches both south on the Gold Coast and north on the Sunshines Coast. Then there’s the Gold Coast, Australia’s number 1 holiday hot-spot and a major international tourist destination in its own right that has become known for its sunny climate, golden beaches offering some of the world’s best surfing breaks, a high-rise dominated skyline with the world’s first 6 star luxury hotel, a plethora of theme parks, great nightlife, and a stunning rainforest hinterland. This rainforest is found on Tamborine Mountain, more commonly referred to as “the green behind the gold” by locals.

With it’s close proximity to the Gold Coast’s intoxicating action, Tamborine Mountain offers couples an incredible +1 option for a destination wedding here in South East Queensland. We see more and more couples who are using the Gold Coast as their luxurious city base and heading up the mountain to marry in the lush hinterland where the air is cooler, the landscape is visually spectacular and the views from high above are simply breathtaking. Love lives in the clouds up here and couples absolutely adore the idea of having a destination wedding that can so seamlessly be rolled into one.

are also trending and currently enjoying a spike in popularity with couples looking to fly solo and marry their soulmate in private, or for those wanting a much smaller celebration with just a handful of their closest family present. One of the best things about the modern world that we live in today, is that everyone is so much more relaxed and open to celebrating marriage in whatever way feels right for each and every couple. Rules that used to literally rule couples out of doing things their own way, have been re-written over time and everyone has embraced the new norm of celebrating the uniqueness of every couple’s wishes for their Wedding Day.

In terms of CLIMATE, Tamborine Mountain is blessed with very moderate climate where it is rare for the average daily temperature to rise above 30 degrees C. Generally speaking, the mountain is some 4 – 5 degrees cooler in the summer months than that of the areas around around the foothills extending to the Gold Coast/Brisbane. There is a distinctly lower rate of humidity up here which means it’s always so much more pleasant throughout the warmer months, which makes for a beautiful change and couldn’t be more welcome than on a Wedding Day. Due to the nature of this unique climate system, Tamborine Mountain is also afforded the luxury of experiencing the beauty of all 4 seasons, which is certainly rare in this particular part of the world. Autumn is a spectacular display of orange, red and brown leaves that crumble under foot, Winter is crisp and charming with log fires and plenty of marshmallow toasting opportunities along with frosty mornings and misty days, Spring comes alive with colour and fragrance as flowers blossom and nature wakes from her slumber… and finally Summer is warm (but not too hot) and invites you to go exploring whilst crickets hum and birdsong fills the air. Tamborine Mountain will quite simply sweep you off your feet.
